DanMachi mengambil setting di suatu kota berbasis RPG yang lebih banyak didominasi penduduknya bekerja sebagai adventurer, yang mencari nafkah dengan berburu monster di dungeon. Bell Cranel yakni salah satu diantaranya.Suatu hari, ketika sedang berkelanan di dungeon, Bell nyaris terbunuh oleh minotaur jikalau Aiz Wallenstein tidak tiba menyelamatkannya.Bell benar-benar terpesona dengan ketangguhan Aiz yang bisa mengalahkan minotaur seorang diri.
Hal itulah yang menciptakan Bell termotivasi untuk menjadi lebih berpengaruh biar suatu ketika nanti bisa bertarung di sisi Aiz.
